Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

In this Privacy Policy, "we", "us" and "our" means Crowcon Detection Instruments Limited, the United Kingdom company number 978878 and whose registered office and headquarters are at 2 Blacklands Way, Abingdon Business Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX14 1DY. We own and run the websites with the domain names www.crowcon.com, www.crowcon.us, www.crowconsupport.com, www.xgard.com, www.sprint-v.com, www.telegangas.co.uk, www.talkinggas.com and www.talkinggasnews.co.uk.

Information Collected

Visitors may browse our websites without revealing their identity or providing details about the reason for their interest. However there are certain areas of our www.crowconsupport.com site which are accessible only to official distributors or Crowcon employees who have been issued with a secure password.

When some types of additional information are requested via our website we will ask you to provide us with some basic details that include your name, organisation’s name and industry of operation, your location, your professional e-mail address (ie the one by which you would wish to be contacted about work matters) and optionally, your professional telephone number. In the majority of cases the option to obtain the information without providing your details is given, though in some it may be necessary to know certain facts in order to respond correctly to your request.

To assist us in keeping our websites relevant and easy to use, Crowcon utilises aggregate trend analysis such as that provided by Google Analytics. This does not collect personally identifiable information, rather it informs us of information such as the total number of visitors to a certain page, which search engine referred people to the page, what terms the visitor was looking for and how long they spent viewing a particular section of the website.

The Way We Use Collected Information

When users agree to provide us with personal information we will generally use this in one of four ways as outlined below:

Details requested when downloading or otherwise obtaining enhanced information
Enhanced information includes information such as product presentations, detailed datasheets, application guides or training materials. To enable Crowcon to ensure that users have successfully obtained relevant information we will endeavour to make a one off contact with them via the professional e-mail address or telephone number provided. If the user is located in a region where Crowcon operates through an approved distributor the relevant details will be passed to them, with the agreement that this information is not for general marketing or other uses. Crowcon deliberately will not store the information collected in this way in any database or marketing list and if any user feels that this commitment is being violated, either by Crowcon or our official distributors please do not hesitate to contact us and we will take swift action to resolve the issue.
Users registering to receive Crowcon newsletters
Users who register to receive newsletters from Crowcon will be e-mailed with either an electronic copy of our latest newsletter or a link to its location on the internet. To enable us to do this the details of those users will be collected and stored in a secure “emailing list” database. This database may occasionally be used to provide additional news to registered users in between newsletters but the frequency of total mailings, including newsletters will not exceed 12 times per year.

Users wishing to “unsubscribe” from receiving future mailings will be given the opportunity to do so in every mailing or this can be done by sending an email from the account that is registered with the word “Unsubscribe” in the title to privacy@crowcon.com. This will result in them being permanently removed from the e-mailing list database.
Users requesting a response through completion of a "Contact Me" form or by emailing sales@crowcon.com
Users who contact Crowcon directly via our "Contact Me" form or by emailing sales@crowcon.com will be handled in the same way as if they had telephoned or written to us. If the query can be answered immediately by our in-house team it will be, otherwise the details will be passed to a local sales manager or official distributor so that they can discuss the query and provide appropriate information. The details of users contacting Crowcon via these methods will not be logged in our emailing database, though their details may be recorded in other sales administration systems for processing purposes.
Distributor and employees wishing to access secured areas of www.crowconsupport.com
Users who contact Crowcon with a request for a password to enter the secured areas of www.crowconsupport.com may have their request discussed with the appropriate Crowcon Area Sales Manager. If authorised the users details will be logged in a separate and specific database and a secure individual password will be issued to them. When registering for access to these areas users are also included in our technical bulletin service, which will inform them of any additions to the support site. Any user wishing to unsubscribe from these bulletins and access to the secured areas should send an e-mail with this request to support@crowcon.com. Crowcon reserves the right to refuse or terminate access to the secured areas without notice.

Our Use Of Cookies

A "cookie" is a small information file which if accepted on to their computer by a user will enable a website to recognise them if they return to that website. When users opt to give their details in relation to an enhanced information request Crowcon may provide a cookie that removes the need for the user to enter those details or go through the detail request screens a second time. If a user does not accept the cookie or subsequently deletes it then no functionality will be lost but the same details will be requested the next time that user wishes to obtain enhanced information.

Our Policy On Sharing Collected Information

Crowcon will not loan, rent or sell the information you provide us with to any party outside Crowcon except in the instances where a response to a "Contact Me" request or e-mail, or follow up to an information request, specifically requires us to pass relevant details to an approved distributor.

Within Crowcon, information held may be used by authorised employees located both within and outside the European Economic Area, though in all locations the above privacy policy is valid.

In the event that Crowcon Detection Instruments is acquired by another organisation, rights to stored information will, along with other company assets, transfer to them.

Accessing And Updating Of Collected Information

You are entitled to see the information held about you and you may ask us to make any necessary changes to ensure that it is accurate and kept up to date. If you wish to do this, please contact us via the information under "Who We Are". We are entitled by law to charge a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.

The Use Of Our Websites By Children

Our websites are intended for use by individuals who are aged 18 years and older.
