‘World of Work’ 2016

The first week of July 2016 was work experience week for many students across Oxfordshire and also coincided with Science week. We took the opportunity to show students what opportunities are available to them if they study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects at school.

Crowcon invited 3 students from nearby schools to our manufacturing headquarters in Milton Park for a week’s work experience, offering them the chance to gain valuable employability skills along with showcasing the variety of careers available, including software design engineer, supply chain management and customer support.

In addition to the 3 students spending a full week with us at Milton Park, on Friday 8th July 2016, Crowcon hosted a ‘World of Work’ event with Science Oxford.

This involved twenty Year 10 students visiting the site for the morning to see what different careers are available within an engineering company, for people who study STEM subjects to a high level.

With team challenges ranging from how to cushion the landing of an egg in the most cost effective way, to dismantling and rebuilding a gas detection instrument to ensure it still works, the young people explored a range of different engineering and technical disciplines as well as getting to know some of our existing apprenticesScience Week Crowcon 2016 - Work Experience
