Last night, at an awards ceremony hosted by Abingdon and Witney College to celebrate student success, one of our second year Engineering Apprentices, Vikesh Patel, won not just ‘2016 Apprentice of the Year’ but, out of around 14000 students across 2 campuses, won ‘2016 Student of the Year’ too. This makes him the first ever apprentice to win such an accolade. Continue reading “Crowcon Apprentice wins Student of the Year 2016”
On Friday 4th Dec we celebrated our recent achievement of the Investors in People accreditation with a tea party for all staff at our UK Headquarters. Waiter service was provided by the Directors and Senior Management Team, in recognition of the contribution of all employees to achieving the standard.
Yes that’s right – Crowcon is another year wiser making our business 45 years old. From the humble beginning of gas engineers wanting to improve the safety of their workplace, to today, where our detectors are used in 100’s of applications across tens of thousands of sites worldwide, one thing remains; our focus on Saving Lives!
Some things are the same all over the world. A tragic case in point – three incidents that came up on our news feed this week of people dying of exposure to toxic gases after entering sewerage systems.
This week, Bekkie Scales (our HR Manager) and Richard Hemming (our Manufacturing Engineering Manager) met with Nick Boles MP, Minister for Skills & Equalities at Abingdon & Witney College to talk about potential changes to the Apprenticeships scheme. With 3 existing Engineering Apprentices and a desire to recruit up to 4 more this year, as well as a number of Graduate and other Trainee positions within our business, Crowcon is keen to ensure that policy makers understand some of the challenges faced in recruiting and retaining key personnel.
Crowcon has recently achieved ISO 14001 certification. A first for us, and an achievement that will show our commitment to helping the environment.
Our guest blogger this week, Lucy, explains the importance of looking after our environment and what ISO14001 means in terms of working as a business.
Having outgrown our previous headquarters, we have now moved to a purpose-built facility in Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
The new facility became fully operational on Monday 18th August and provides a better training and product demonstration centre, enabling larger groups and an even stronger focus on customer training and awareness. As well as this, the new site provides upgraded facilities for provision of improved support service, device servicing and calibration, to meet increasing demand for our products well into the future.
